Marbex
Once a prosperous farming town bathed in sunlight, Marbex fell into an unnatural darkness. Crops failed. Livestock panicked. Even the strongest spirits frayed beneath weeks of sunless sky.
An artifact was found by one of our adventurers, and promptly eaten by her familiar. Kind of a concerning method, but a successful one.
With the sun returned but the season half-lost, farmers dig and plant and children play in the weak warmth.
The birds wait in the treeline, but nobody seems to know precisely what they're waiting for. With Hiberna and the first snows fast approaching, tensions, and gritty hope, are running high.
I think they'll be okay. Probably.
The Golden Fields (Before the Darkness)
Once the regionâs agricultural heart, Marbex supplied grain, root vegetables, and animal products to several nearby towns. Cooperative farming practices and shared seasonal rituals kept production consistent and morale high. The Vanishing Sun
Sunlight vanished without warning. Crops failed quickly. Residents initially assumed a prolonged storm cycle, but panic spread as every form of natural light refused to penetrate the air above the farmland. No neighboring settlements reported the same phenomenon.Shadows and Feathers
The blackout coincided with a rise in hostile bird activity. Birds of unusual size and intelligence attacked livestock and storage areas. Strange behaviors included formation-flying over town structures and coordinated nighttime screeches that disrupted sleep patterns. The Return of Daylight
An artifact linked to the blackout was consumed by a Guild memberâs familiar. The sun returned hours later. Fields began to recover, and while spirits remain shaken, most residents resumed agricultural efforts within days. The Sky Has Eyes (Recent Event)
The major threat appears neutralized, but a secondary issue persists. The large predatory birds have remained. These do not engage, but watch, alone or in pairs, from forest borders, rooftops, and fence lines. Some bear signs of magical tampering. One was found with wing-carved sigils. Another carried a device that emits faint harmonic tones under direct sunlight.
Behavioral shifts among the townâs children have emerged. Childrenâs games now include a new role: âThe Watcher,â who stands with arms outstretched and eyes closed. Some claim to see shadows cast in the wrong direction. Officially, the Guild considers the crisis resolved.
